Remember the days when AI voice cloning wasn’t even a thing? No RVC, no ElevenLabs, no VoiceMod AI? 🕰️
Back then, there was Koigoi.
Koigoi is an OLD, Japanese, and almost forgotten Windows software from around 2015–2018. It was a real-time voice changer — but with ZERO artificial intelligence. Just simple pitch-shifting, basic filters (echo, radio, robot), and a lot of heart ❤️
What could it do?
🔹 Make your voice sound higher (anime girl style)
🔹 Make your voice sound lower (monster or demon)
🔹 Add simple effects like echo or telephone mode
What it could NOT do (because AI didn’t exist back then):
❌ Clone someone’s voice
❌ Turn your voice into a specific character naturally
❌ Learn from samples
Why is nobody talking about Koigoi today?
· It was only in Japanese — no English UI
· It’s super outdated compared to modern apps like Voicemod
· The developer stopped updating it years ago
· AI-based changers took over completely
Final thought:
Koigoi was the grandfather of desktop voice changers. Before AI was cool, before machine learning, just pure, simple pitch-shifting magic from Japan. 🎌
Does anyone here still remember Koigoi? Or am I the only dinosaur? 😂
